Nicholas Veronico notes in his book “Boeing 377 Stratocruiser” that N1027V was delivered on March 2, 1949 at Portland.
On March 13, the aircraft did a 6 hour, 33 minute press hop that departed from San Franciso to cruise over Death Valley, past Mt. Whitney, over Las Vegas, Boulder Dam, and the Grand Canyon. Following the press junket, N1027V went on public display in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Salt Lake City before going into regular Pan Am service.
